Prevention
OASAS believes prevention is a pro-active, research-based, data-driven process using proven-effective strategies and programs to reduce or prevent alcohol and other drug misuse in individuals, families, and communities.
The Brooklyn W.A.Y. aims to implement equitable and effective environmental change strategies in collaboration with community to impact community and society level risk and protective factors.
This will be done through media, advocacy and strategic enforcement.
Environmental Strategies - designed to change the community, social, and economic contexts in which people access and use alcohol, tobacco, or other illicit drugs.
Media
We aim to work with directly impacted youth and young adults to create effective media campaigns that address systemic root causes of problem substance use and provide community with knowledge and education to make informed decisions.
Advocacy
Our advocacy will address community and system level policy that directly impacts risk and protective factors.
